Pet In-House Digital X-Ray

Digital x-rays give our veterinary staff the knowledge they need to create a successful treatment plan for your pet, whether it is a fractured bone or an internal organ problem. We are happy to provide in-house digital x-rays for this reason.

The best part is that digital x-rays release considerably less radiation than traditional film ones; they are much safer for both animals and veterinary employees. With this advanced technology, we can give your pet the best treatment possible.

Radiographs (x-rays) have been used for many decades as an excellent non-invasive method for veterinarians to examine an animal’s body. A radiograph machine works by directing high-energy radiography rays onto a specific area of your pet’s body. The denser elements in your pet’s body, such as bones and teeth, will absorb the radiography beams, which will be captured on the computer screen.
We may recommend that your pet receives digital radiographs for one of many reasons:

  • To assess your pet’s health
  • To check for bone fractures, joint dislocations, and other injuries related to blunt or high-force trauma (e.g. car accident)
  • To visualize and/or confirm the presence of an ingested foreign object
  • To rule in or out the presence of certain health conditions, including bone tumors
During a digital radiology scan, we’ll most likely put your pet under sedation or if necessary general anesthesia. This is to ensure that your pet stays still and comfortable during the procedure so that any images collected will be as clear and readable as possible.
